Who is the Loud Lady?
She knows how to get your project noticed by the media because: Catherine Hernandez works as a journalist. She was a columnist for the National Post, editor for Sweetmama.ca, associate editor for Salon Magazine and acts as a contributor to numerous publications.
She knows how to grow your audiences because: Once the head of Outreach, Education and Publicity at Factory Theatre, she developed several strategies for cultivating diverse, dedicated audiences. These tactics have been presented at the Toronto City Summit 2007 and at Theatre Passe Muraille’s Sounding Board.
She will understand your project because: Catherine Hernandez is a Toronto-based writer and theatre practitioner. Her first play, Singkil, was produced by fu-GEN Asian Canadian Theatre Company in association with Factory Theatre. It garnered seven Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations, including Best New Play, Independent Division. Singkil will be published by Playwright’s Canada Press in July 2009. She is currently working on her next work, Kilt Pins, under the guidance of her dramaturge, Ruth Madoc-Jones, with Carlos Bulosan Theatre Company and Theatre Passe Muraille. She is also developing a multidisciplinary piece called Future Folk with Sulong Theatre Collective and Theatre Passe Muraille. Her short story "Saint Candice" is in a several-part anthology-in-the-works called The Scarborough Stories, and is in Diaspora Dialogues’ TOK Book 2.
